There are some systems containing a neutron star and a black hole orbiting each other. Such a system is expected to release gravitational radiation, and it is possible that the orbit would slowly decay and the neutron star will eventually interact with the black hole, and this would cause an explosion and the release of massive amounts of energy, which we could detect as a gamma-ray burst.
