  It doesnt physically have to get inside the body. It creates a magnetic field. The field affects all the protons (positively charged) inside the body. A proton is like a spinning top. the magnetism forces the spining top to point one way or the other. This simple concept allows us to see so much based on the millions of such protons inside the body that we can pick tumours as small as 1 – 2 mm in size!
