I hope to discover new physical concepts related to the objects I study. I also build instruments and detectors, and I hope that when they are sent into space they will work correctly and advance scientific knowledge someday.
I will find a new way to detect cancer sooner – before it spread everywhere. I will do this by manipulating the electromagnetic field generating by machines we use to detect cancer. Although I must say, it will be a team effort and I am blessed to be working in one of the best cancer research facilities in the world.
Sorry, I missed this question before! It’s a good one though..
What I love about my type of work is it’s quite transferrable. I’m building instruments for astronomy at the moment, to detect things out there in the universe that we’ve never seen before. I find astronomy fascinating (especially finding new planets!), but I might like a change one day…
When it comes down to it, nearly everything I do is about electronics, robotics, software, and optics (cameras). One day I’d like to apply these skills to other areas. I’d love to build instruments that get sent into space. Then again, I’d really like to build miniature robots that help perform non-invasive surgery on patient, so they recover quicker! It’s all linked really – it’s all technical stuff.
So the short answer is: I’d like to accomplish LOTS. As long as my research either helps us discover new things about the amazing universe, or helps people here on Earth, then I’ll be happy 🙂
